Final day at ppoc

(Furniture group 2)

For the last day which is today on ppoc, we already have our furniture completed but unable to move in in the last week because the floor is dirty. Today we manage to help group one to clean the floor and window to rapid the phase.for todays task, we clean the floor and window, wipe the teacher table, arrange the table and chair, move the shelf to respective area. At the end we throw out every trash at their garbage area.Together me,carmen,celine,chris,kenny and jocelyn from group 1 help to clean the windows.I also help them to hang the curtain that my mom supply.some of the runners are spoil so i brought mine but luckily all ofthem are useable.Actually min wei done a blackout curtain but he said he left it at his father office.Then i discuss with jonathan and told him that the blackout curtain will make the room too dark.At the end, Aaron do the rest help moved the furniture in and we are satisfied that we completed our job in time but we are also disappointed because we could have done it earlier but because the floor issue so we have been delayed.

Ppoc

Today we reach there around 11am and then we start by touching up the furniture and while letting for it to dry, we assemble the ikea furniture and after it is dried we use adhesive to stick the laminated chipboard on the table and that was the end for the students part. For the teacher table we already prepared the cloth to cover it and we also painted the door and for the whiteboard we scrape off the unwanted stuff that is sticking on it.Before this me, chris andceline went to ikea to buy shelfing unit and new chair.I was the first to reach ppoc so i start to stick the laminate on the table and sooner min wei reach and he helped me to stick all the 9 tables.but i realise that i stick a laminate wrongly but it was too late.after that, sean and the others arrive to help build up the ikea furniture and i discuss with Miss Norji about the new layout plan.Then Miss Norji ask us to buy another new shelf to put beside the techer table and i sent sean and chris to buy it because he was going to ikea anyway.While we were doing most of the work kenny started to talk about jokes and we did our job and having fun at the same time.I am glad kenny motivated us to do more work with integration of fun and we have complete the task today. The problem now is that jonathan havent settle his group because we need them to clean the floor and skirting so that we can move in our furniture.

First task at ppoc

For the first task we went to the hardware shop to buy paint and coating for repairing the furniture.we started by moving out all the furniture  and paint a coat of lacquer and thats it for the day.we planned to put another layer for the next time.I seperate some of our group because like aaron is tall so i ask him to help jonathan group to paint the wall.After he paint there are some areas that he cant reach so jonathan ask me to help him to paint the edges so it looks more complete.Carmen help us with the second lacquer and she,me and chris painted the final coat on most of the furniture.Min wei was there but he painted it wrongly because we told everyone to paint it vertically but he painted it horizontally. Sean,Kenny and the others are responsible to buy the material for us and celine is there to make sure that we buy the coating that is suitable for our furniture.

Furniture group 2 presentation

During this week presentation,our group have calculate the cost for the furniture in the space which is around RM 900.00. We then further discuss on what task we are going to do on site this friday. We are planning to break the 3 frame around the table to make space for the laminated board and paint it at the same time and after it is dried we can put another layer on top of it and then install the laminate chipboard.We also plan to paint the door at another time because we do not want to interrupt group one from doing their mural wall art.

PPOC site

On the first day of community service,we met miss norji at PPOC and we are divided into 3 groups which was the painting and designing the space,the photographer/ video recorder and the furniture group. For me i was in the furniture group and me and my team recorded down the condition and measurement of the furniture such as the shelves,chairs and table.As shown in the picture below, we found out that a lot of the furniture were damaged and some of them are not in a very good condition to be used again. I as the group leader divided our task equally and make sure all of them do their respective work.i took measurement of the furniture on the first day so i can create the table top for them.I also ask jonathan whether i could measure the curtain because my mom said sh wanted to sponsor curtain for them and when i was measuring i foudn out that some of the hooks and runners were spoil, windows are dirty but the track is still in good condition.
